1 in 7 US Teens is Vitamin D Deficient
One in seven US teens is Vitamin D deficient, according to a new study by researchers in the Department of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College. Vitamin D deficiency in children can lead to rickets; it is linked to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, immune dysfunction, and hypertension in adults.
The findings, published in the March issue of the journal Pediatrics, were presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies Annual Meeting in May 2008.
The study found that girls had more than twice the risk of deficiency compared to boys, and that overwight teems had nearly double the risk of their normal weight counterparts?

Everyone needs Vitamin D. You can get one by sunbathing or taking supplements that provide Vitamin D. Not everyone on us have time to soak in the sun. So for the busy teenagers, I suggest supplements, but be sure not to take too much.
Supplements that contains Vitamin D will be convenient but it is expensive, so I suggest soaking up the sun for at least 5 minutes.
